Michael,

You are right, there seems to be some increased spam activity for UK websites. I've made some changes to the forum hoping to decrease it. Apologies for the inconveniences.
[Technical Support] Pamela locking up when using Emotion Player

I have Pamela Professional version 4.6.050. But please note that my question occurred with the previous version I purchased in November 2009. This is my first update. However, reading the update log, I do not see where this issue was addressed.

Anyway, I use Pamela for recording Skype calls and the Emotion Player. Those are the only two features I use. I am having a problem with Pamela locking up when I use the emotion player and therefore losing the recording. Do you have any experience with this?

Are there any guidelines on the types of files that are best to use in the Emotion Player? For example are .wavs more stable than .mp3s? Are there file size limitations?

You thoughts are appreciated. Today I had to rerecord a podcast segment three times due to this. I would like to avoid this issue in the future.
Hi there,

Pretty easy to fix this:

in pamela go Tools->Options

General tab, uncheck "minimize Pamela to taskbar..."

Apply, then OK

Now hit the "X" on the upper right corner, Pamela disapears from the task bar but stays in the tray.
Hi,

love it, bought it a for all our office staff already.. however, when I use it on my machine (Win7-64) there is a small niggling thing.. Pamela has an entry both in the taskbar AND in the system tray. On windows xp, Pamela only has an entry in the system tray, just like Skype. So, is there a way to get rid of the task bar entry?

Thanks

Andres
Hi,

For a PamFax refund you need to open a support ticket at the PamFax Helpdesk. Please also mention the date of purchase of your Pamela license (and email address if different from the one you use in the helpdesk) and they will send you a copy of the activation info and/or reply with your code.
Hi,

Can you explain how the call ended? Did you hang up the call or did the other party hang up the call? Have you recently updated your Skype? If so, what version is installed now?

When you run Pamela and open the main window, does the status bar at the bottom say "Connected to Skype"?
I have been using Pamela on/off for several years, usually without problems. Version = 4.5.0.58. Just finished a call. No problems during call. Graphic equaliser was bouncing away happily and lapsed time was advancing fine. Stopped call via Skype screen. Looked in Pamela recordings folder. Not there!!! I have used MCSFT search to find all hidden/sys filed on my entire PC. It's not there. Pamela didn't save the file! What went wrong? How can I recover my file? This is pretty disastrous. I can't trust Pamela any more.
The answers to 1 & 2 are the same as I posted above. I get the error message "Unable to connect to internet" and the message about allowing SkypePM.exe to get through my firewall.
Hi,

The solution is to update to version 4.6.0.50 which hasa fix for disabled recording buttons. To update open Pamela and click on "Help", "Check for update". Download and run setup. Let me know if this fixes the issue.
Is there something blocking my recording a skype to voice call, rather than recording a skype to skype call?

Thanks
Hi,

Some of our users experience that the playback button is greyed out. They can record just fine, and they can play the files in windows media player, but they cannot play the files from within Pamela, which is a bit annoying.

Anyone who has experience this or has a solution?

Thanks,
Jannick
Hi,

It seems there are multiple issues on your computer which prevent Pamela from operating correctly.

1. What is the error when PCR wants to connect to the internet? It only needs this for activation of your license. As the previous version was already activated there should be no more notification.

2. When you start Pamela, what happens? What error messages are shown?

And I don't know how many more times I have to tell YOU, but Skype isn't the one that sold me YOUR software. YOU did - with no warnings that it might NOT work "because of a bug in Skype" nor any other precautions. No suggestion that I try recording for more than 30 minutes, no discl@imer about bugs - even those that are the fault of someone else.

Yesterday I tried again - only this time Pamela would not record at ALL. It only recorded when I played an emote sound, but wouldn't record any of our conversation.

I downloaded your latest version. At first it told me I couldn't install it because I installed Pamela via the add-ins on Skype. I removed it through there, and then installed it from the download. Now it's telling me it's "Unable to connect to the Internet" - despite SkypePM being on my exclusions list (indeed, even if I turn off the firewall it still says the same thing).

So now it (Pamela) won't load at all. I have tried uninstalling it & re-installing it several times, rebooting, no luck. I followed the directions in the other threads trying to manually register the dll with no luck.

Now what?

(also, you realize that your forums software won't allow a post with the word "discl@imer" in it (I had to mis-spell it to get it in?)
